Plant a tree

Every year...for Mother's Day...I get a plant of some type. When I was pregnant, we planted a tiny, beautiful flowering dogwood (which has yet to come fully out of it's transplant trauma). Last year, D. brought home these astounding hanging flower baskets for the front porch. This year...I got my present early, because I found the most intoxicating little tree I've seen in a long time. It's a dwarf lemon and will take a bit of TLC to make it through our winters. This will probably have to be an indoor/outdoor plant, so rather than planting it in the ground, it will be bound to a large pot.

I must say, however, as tiny as it is right now, it puts off a rich fragrance. Yummy! And it's already flowering. I don't know if it could possibly bear fruit at this size, but I'd say in a year or two, we should have lemons.

And maybe, having it there can remind us every once in awhile, when necessary, of that old adage: When life gives you lemons...

Lemons don't seem like such a bad thing, though, when they come in such a pretty package.

Onward...

Today, we also cleaned the back room - at least most of the way. We got all the "stuff" that we are just storing in it moved to the garage, leaving only the items we plan to leave in there. We'll organize it another day. Productivity...check!

And last...

Since the little guy ran out of his toothpaste before us, he moved onto the "natural" toothpaste first. I found him some Burt's Bees kids' toothpaste without flouride at Jim's Pharmacy. He didn't grimace, so I guess it went over okay. We're next. When the current tube is gone (the last of our bulk Costco package), we'll be moving onto a brand whose ingredients are all pronounceable.
