Homemade Yogurt

Today's goal was to make homemade yogurt (thanks to a recipe from a friend - thanks, R.!). And since it was so simple even I can do it...I figured I'd share it.

Put 4 cups of water and two cups of dried milk in a blender. Blend it and pour it into a crock pot. Whir 2 more cups of water in the blender to clean off the sides, and pour it into the crock pot.

Add one can of evaporated milk.

Let cook on low for 2 1/2 hours.

Turn off the crock pot and let cool for 2 1/2 - 3 hours.

Test the heat of the mix. It should be on the warm side, but not hot.

Add about 8 oz. of plain yogurt with live cultures.

Mix it up.

Put towels around the crock pot to keep it warm.

By morning, we should have yogurt.

At this point we can add in flavoring...vanilla extract will be our choice.
