Purge 2

Woke up this morning at 7:20 to my son's insistent request to "pway wif me, momma". So that's what we did...we built car and train tracks all morning. Not a terrible way to begin the day: quality time with a toddler who was in a fairly decent mood.

Today...a massage to wash away the holidays and start the new year right...with hand-mixed oils made locally and eucalyptus to help me breath more clearly. That's the first plan. Then off to our local variety store (if they don't have it, I don't need it -- or so they say) to buy a few things we need around the house. And then to the natural foods store for a couple of Burt's Bees products (my favorite). I think I've convinced D. to try their shaving cream in lieu of his usual cheap aerosol. And I'm ever on the search for a non-aluminum deodorant that actually works. And since I got rid of a few pairs of old sheets, I'll be needing to find an ecologically-sensitive replacement...organic cotton or something of that nature. Maybe I'll need to take a trip to Port Townsend in the next few days. They have a great little store that sells hemp, bamboo, org. cotton, and tencel products. I bought my Earth shoes there a few years ago. And while I really liked their products, it was just a sad reminder that to live green often requires a lot more green (money, that is). I guess the idea is to buy few things that are made better, and ultimately it will end up costing you less in the long run...but it's still hard to justify the purchases in the beginning, when your budget is so tight. You really have to plan ahead for changes like these.

The purge for today: sore muscles, stress, and toys from the kiddo's room (gotta get that Goodwill bag finished off.

I noticed that too! In order to be "green" is to have a BIG pocket book. Like it more expensive to make it..LOL! Take organic veggies...it grows from the ground just like any other veggie but it doesn't have the pestisides to it but yet it's almost a dollor or so more!
